Erster Sieg für die Jugend-Mannschaft der Squirrels

The Sindelfingen Squirrels stashed enough runs away to reap their first victory of the season in a nail-biting 16 to 13 victory over the SG Nagold Mohawks/ Herrenberg Wanderers.

The Squirrels held a solid lead by the end of the first four innings through walks, some hits, and by some very squirrelly and aggressive base stealing that quickly stockpiled 11 runs for the Squirrels.  The Squirrels starting pitcher, hard throwing lefty Mason Williams, dominated the mound by striking out 11 batters while giving up only 4 runs in the first four innings. The Squirrels, however, almost squandered their victory as the Mohawks/ Wanderers rallied for six runs in the sixth inning shaving the score to a razor close 11-10. The Squirrels didn’t balk though and socked away four more runs at the top of the 6th to add to their heap of 15 runs. The resilient Mohawks/ Wanderers, however, didn’t throw in the towel as they scored 3 more runs but still came up short in an exciting ending to a great game on a beautiful sunny Sunday day in Herrenberg.
